In Spring 2012, the Office of Alumni Affairs offered an Alumni Studies program titled "The Future of Nuclear Power" from March 15 to April 18, 2012. This five-week online course featured faculty, scientists and specialists from Princeton University, the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) and the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists discussing nuclear energy as a power source in the post-Fukushima landscape.  From the existing and future applications of nuclear fission power to the developing technology of nuclear fusion, the course covered the following concepts: history, reactor design, global distribution, economics, safety, environmental impact, future prospects, challenges, benefits and more.
