Just before summer tourists descend on western Europe’s playgrounds, explore Spain’s rugged Costa Brava and France’s Côte d’Azur under sail. A pre-tour extension to Bilbao to see the iconic Frank Gehry-designed Guggenheim Museum is offered (May 7-9).

The destinations of Barcelona, Carcassonne, Provence, and Monte Carlo all conjure images of sun-drenched beaches, glamorous seaports, medieval history, and rich masterpieces of art, architecture, and literature. Travel under sail aboard the incomparable Sea Cloud II on the quintessential Mediterranean journey, May 9-19, 2011, with your fellow Princetonians.

Begin in chic Barcelona, one of Europe's most beautiful and vibrant cities where centuries of history provide the backdrop to a cosmopolitan mix of art and commerce. Then board the Sea Cloud II and begin an adventure under sail along the Spanish and French Rivieras. Explore the old medieval bastions of Figueres and Carcassonne, and the lavender fields of Provence. Stroll the outdoor markets of Aix-en-Provence and trace the footsteps of Cézanne and Van Gogh. Later, call at one of the world's most glamorous harbors—Monte Carlo—to visit Monaco’s Palace and perhaps test your luck in the grand 19th century Casino. The journey concludes in Nice for an exploration of the hidden art treasures in St. Paul de Vence and Cap Ferrat.

A highlight of the program is the mode of conveyance itself: the stunning Sea Cloud II. This superb vessel, christened in 2001, combines the seafaring elegance of a bygone era with the highest modern standards of luxury and provides a superb setting with just 47 cabins, world-class service and five-star dining.
