Fall 2009 Program: Health Care in America and Abroad
This fall, the Office of the Alumni Association offered an Alumni Studies course on the topic of health care. Over the course of six weeks, participants explored the current state of the American health care system; examined health care systems in other countries including Canada, Britain and Japan; addressed the moral question of whether a rich country should provide health care to every citizen; and analyzed the state of health care reform in Washington.
Alumnus T.R. Reid ’66 was the moderator for this course. His latest book, The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper, and Fairer Health Care, was the main text. In addition to this text, the syllabus included other news articles, online lectures by Professor Uwe Reinhardt and PBS video programs featuring T.R. Reid.
The course took place from October 1, 2009 to November 13, 2009.
- Registration: This course concluded on November 13, 2009 and registration is now closed.
