- Faustus Anatonized
Who was Dr. Faust? We all know of Faust's tragic bargain with the devil through the works of Marlowe, Goethe and Berlioz—three famous renditions of Faust's often-fictionalized tale. These stories of Faust's deeds have their sources in folklore and numerous written accounts of his adventures. But the legends of Faust were inspired by the life of a real person, one Georg—or perhaps Johannes—Faustus, who died around 1540.
- Russian Culture and Post-September 11 Life
Professor Ellen Chances of Slavic Languages and Literatures delivered this lecture at the Alumni Association's Russian WinterFest in the winter of 2002.
- The Idea of Europe
Professor Emeritus Lionel Gossman's interests focus on the relationship between history and literature in the 17th through 19th centery Europe—especially on problems of "humanistic education as it is and as it should be." Originally delivered during the Alumni Studies Program in 1997, this lecture is an audio-only update.
