Interactive Video Programs
These enhanced video programs set a new standard for computer-based learning.
- A Collegelands Catechism
Howard G.B. Clark '21 University Professor in the Humanities and Chair of the Fund for Irish Studies Paul Muldoon offers his poem, A Collegelands Catechism, as an interactive exploration.
- Game Theory
An online interactive presentation that goes beyond the theory itself, using video from interviews with Princeton faculty (including Nash and Kuhn), this course offers many observations on real world use, and a look at Princeton's role in its development. Interviews with Harold Kuhn *50 and John Nash *50 are available.
- Princeton Epigraphy
Professor Christian Wildberg of the Classics Department leads a new look at classical inscriptions on the campus. In 1938, the Princeton Alumni Weekly published an article by Professor Shirley Weber. In this presentation, the inscriptions were photographed, translated and further enhanced.
- Princeton Dante Project
The Princeton Dante Project (PDP) opened for use on 18 May 1999. The PDP combines a traditional approach to the study of Dante's Comedy with new techniques of compiling and consulting data, images, and sound. The text of Dante's poem is always at the center of the user's attention, and he or she is able to consult, within the confines of the PDP itself, the following materials:
- The Petrocchi text of the poem
- New verse translation of Inferno written by Professor Emeritus Robert Hollander
- Recitation of the poem in Italian
- New commentary notes
- Direct link to the Dartmouth Dante Project
- Links to Dante sites all over the world
- State of the World Conference
State of the World was the ambitious topic of a two-day conference held in February 2004 by the Princeton Institute of International and Regional Studies (PIIRS). In the words of PIIRS Director Miguel Centeno, "What we mean is not to provide a perfect description of the world. Rather, to provide a succinct analysis of global trends which can then be used to better understand medium-term to long-term tendencies in the globe."
- The Life and Times of Nelson Mandela
In two audio-only lectures, Professor Jeffrey Herbst '83 reviews the modern history of South Africa, and Nelson Mandela's life-long involvement with apartheid and South African politics.
Additional video programs can be found on the Educational Technologies Center (ETC) Web site.
