Vietnam Today, with Angkor Extension
This trip has been completed.
February 16-27, 2008. An optional post-trip extension to Cambodia is available to see the temples of Angkor, built during the height of the Khmer civilization and one of humankind's most astonishing architectural achievements.
Steeped in a history of powerful dynasties, diverse religious traditions, and political transformations, Vietnam is emerging from its years of isolation and beckons the sophisticated traveler to visit now. Join your fellow Princetonians as we travel to Vietnam, February 16-23, 2008, to see the country as it is today.
Beautiful and lush, the landscape hosts emerald green rice fields and the remnants of ancient temples, and its cities fuse French colonial architecture and ancient dynastic elements. In Hanoi tour the Museum of Ethnology, visit the city’s Old Quarter aboard rickshaw-like cyclos, and delight in exclusive meetings to learn about the countries traditional and contemporary arts. In Hué, explore the Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City, and stroll amid the pavilions of the Royal Tombs. Become acquainted with the charms of historic Hoi An, and the tree-lined boulevards of Saigon.
We've also included some special features, including visits to Princeton-related enterprises, a Vietnamese cooking class, and free time for independent exploration in this welcoming land. This program features historic hotels and boutique resorts throughout this journey so you may enjoy Indochina in style.
Please note: We ran this program in 2006 and it was a sell-out. We anticipate this one selling quickly, too.
