Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Family Adventure
July 24-30, 2010 with Carolyn Dillian, Princeton Writing Program. Hike, kayak, and raft through some of America’s most stunning landscape with friends and family in a program that balances outdoor adventure with the creature comforts.
Wyoming's northwest corner is a geothermal theater of awe, including thousands of ever-erupting geysers, hot springs, enormous thermal basins and hissing steam vents, all at the heart of the largest unspoiled wilderness in the continental U.S. Join your fellow Princetonians, July 24-30, 2010, on this multi-sport program that combines two of the nation's most popular national parks and offers a little something for every age and interest.
Explore Old Faithful and the Lower Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park and enjoy an afternoon in "easy-to-learn and handle" kayaks on Yellowstone Lake and paddle the calm, reflective waters of Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park. Raft a scenic section of the Snake River along the bases of mile-high, snow-speckled peaks and have a chance to glimpse bald eagles, moose, elk and river otter. Check into a cozy cabin surrounded by wildflowers on the banks of the Snake River with stunning views of the Grand Tetons and dine under star-filled skies. Take a side hike up Rendezvous Peak at 10,450 feet for a stunning view of Jackson Hole and enjoy a whitewater finale on another section of the family-friendly Snake River.
Please note: One night of tent-camping will be included in the journey, though the campsite will be pre-set for participants.
