Alaska Family Adventure

August 8-15, 2009 with Tom Dunne, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Students. This trip has been developed specifically for a family—youngsters with parents, grandparents, or other adult friends or relatives—who wants to experience the natural world together.

Since running our first Alaska Family cruise in 2003, nearly fifty Princeton families—those with and without children—have traveled with us to the 49th state. Since each year the demand has exceeded the accommodations on the small ship that we use, we are pleased to offer this repeat performance. Join your fellow Princetonians, August 8-15, 2009, on this special expedition to Southeast Alaska, a land of humpback whales, soaring bald eagles, thundering glaciers, pristine islands, and dramatic fjords.

Experience the freedom that small-ship cruising—relatively rare in Alaska—can provide when traveling through hidden coves or unexpected whale pods. Explore Alaska's dramatic Inside Passage, walking among spruce forests, viewing the waterfalls and fjords of Tracy Arm, and kayaking through glaciers. Visit with local communities, indelibly linked to the history of this region. And come away from this place where eagles outnumber people refreshed and renewed, and with a much deeper understanding of the great land that is Alaska. Optional extensions to Denali National Park and the Kenai Peninsula are offered both prior to and after the cruise.

Share the beauty of America's last frontier with your family on this program, perfectly suited to please multiple generations of travelers. Some activities, such as hands-on learning activities, scavenger hunts, or special meals may be designated "for children only." However, most activities and meals are designed so that families may share the time and experiences together. Parents are always responsible for their children. Please note that there is no "drop-off" or child care program.

Please note: Earlier offerings of this program sold out within days of the brochure being available. Take advantage of our pre-registration process to hold space for your family.
