About Alumni Day
Alumni Day was first observed on Lincoln's birthday in 1915. Designed to give alumni a glimpse of campus life when the University was in session (and not just at commencement for Reunions), the event drew 100 people in what the PAW called "an intellectual pilgrimage" to Princeton. From 1916 to 1955, Alumni Day took place on Washington's birthday; thereafter, it was and remains observed on the Saturday nearest to February 22.
Alumni Day now draws over 1,000 alumni, parents, friends and family. It is not only a day to reconnect with Princeton but a day to renew old friendships and undoubtedly forge new ones. At the Alumni Day luncheon, several awards are presented to alumni in recognition of their achievements and volunteer service. Learn more about the various awards presented to alumni, as well as awards the University presented to top students.
Alumni Day also includes a panoply of engaging academic content featuring Princeton alumni and faculty. Visit the Alumni Day Lecture Archives to enjoy audio recordings of previous years' lectures, as well as the Chapel Audio Tours.
Service of Remembrance
Princeton University’s Annual Memorial Service, the Service of Remembrance, is a cherished part of Alumni Day, the midwinter gathering of the Princeton family. The Service remembers with honor and affection those Princetonians—alumni, students, faculty and staff—whose deaths were recorded during the prior calendar year. It is held in the University Chapel at 3:00 p.m. and lasts for one hour. All family and friends are invited.
All University lots will be available for parking on Saturday. Lot 21 and West Garage will have shuttle service to and from the Chapel. There is also public parking in town. Visit the University's 'Getting Around Campus' page to learn more about visitor parking and to view a campus map.
For additional information about the Service of Remembrance, please contact Dottie Werner at (609) 258-5451.
