Careers Committee

The Princeton Alumni Council Careers Committee addresses the career development interests and needs of Princeton alumni—undergraduate and graduate—throughout a lifetime.

Other Careers Committee projects include:

  • Annual Reunions Conference:  Each year on Reunions weekend undergraduate and graduate alumni join noted experts in a discussion of current career development topics in an interactive setting.  These events can take the form of a panel, a conference or a colloquium and are often presented in partnership with other alumni organizations.  Recent programs include How to Tune Up Your Career in a Down Market [PDF] (2009), Career Mapping: Navigating Choices and Circumstances in a Plan for Life [PDF] (2008), and Permeable Boundaries: Leveraging the Princeton Network (2007).

  • NetNights: Networking programming that has been a successful service to alumni in some cities will soon be available to all interested regional associations. The committee has created a template for use by regional association volunteers: written “how to” guidelines and a personal and web-based support system for volunteers will be available to regional associations in the field on an on-going basis. View the NetNights Guidelines [PDF].

  • Major Class Year Survey: Major Reunions classes typically survey their members for a snapshot of their collective lives, families, interests and careers as they evolve over a lifetime. The committee is developing a survey that can be used at the convenience of these classes that will meet their needs and also provide consistent and scientifically sound data on career path and development over time and across generations. This project will provide the Careers Committee with current information on alumni career interests and needs and inform programming decisions.
