Discussion Group users who violate the TigerNet Discussion Group User Etiquette Guidelines or any regulation governing TigerNet as contained in Rights, Rules, Responsibilities and Information Technology Resources and Internet Access: Guidelines for Use are subject to disciplinary action, including the termination or suspension of TigerNet privileges.
The following procedures will be followed to identify etiquette infractions and take disciplinary action:
- Upon receiving notification from moderators or others stating concern over etiquette violations, the Associate Director of Digital Communications will contact the offender in order to (1) inform him or her about other users' concerns and (2) ask him or her to conform to the guidelines.
- If the offender continues to violate the guidelines, the Associate Director of Digital Communications will notify the offender that he or she has been placed on probation for two weeks, during which time the Associate Director of Digital Communications and members of the Technology Advisory Committee will monitor the offender’s behavior.
- If, during or after the probationary period, the offender continues to violate the guidelines, the Chair of the Technology Advisory Committee will recommend disciplinary action to the Director of the Alumni Council, including the temporary or permanent suspension from TigerNet.
- Upon receiving a recommendation from the Chair of the Technology Advisory Committee, the Director of the Alumni Council may take action to implement the recommendation. In the case of flagrant violations, the Director of the Alumni Council may take immediate action regarding temporary or permanent suspension from TigerNet.
