Vietnam & Cambodia: Sacred Sites of Southeast Asia

Experience the magnetism of Southeast Asia's ancient and fascinating culture on this journey into the heart of Vietnam and Cambodia. Begin with three nights in charming Hanoi, whose French architectural details meld seamlessly with the serene lines of its pagodas and temples: take in the city's history through a cyclo (bicycle rickshaw) tour of the colorful Old Quarter, prepare traditional dishes in a hands-on cooking class and meet with officials at the American Embassy to learn about the current state of US/Vietnam relations. Next, visit Hoi An in central Vietnam, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with an eclectic mix of merchant architecture that miraculously escaped the ravages of war. After a short flight, arrive in Siem Reap, Cambodia where we spend three days exploring the magnificent temples of Angkor, vestiges of the ancient Khmer civilization, including the largest religious monument in the world, Angkor Wat. Conclude the journey in Cambodia's capital city, Phnom Penh, resting on the shores of the Mekong River. For those wishing to extend their Southeast Asian adventure, an optional Laos post-tour is available.
