Join the Friends of Princeton University Library for a beautifully illustrated tribute to the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States as seen through the paintings of John Trumbull, the great visual artist of the American Revolution. Ron Brown will share the evolution of Trumbull’s work from his early sketches of British positions occupying Boston to the monumental images he created for the Capitol Rotunda, including works illustrating the Declaration of Independence and the Battle of Princeton that are held by Princeton University Library (PUL). 

Brown has written and lectured extensively on Trumbull and has donated several Trumbull works to Princeton. Brown is a member of the Princeton Class of 1972 and earned an M.A. from the University of Chicago. He is a commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve (retired) and was awarded two Navy and Marine Corps commendation medals for writing and research while serving with the U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington, D.C.
