About the Journey

Antibes…Monte Carlo…Cap Ferrat…Cinque Terre…Lucca…the Isle of Elba… These names conjure images of medieval history, sun-drenched beaches, glamorous seaports, and rich masterpieces of art and architecture—in short, the quintessential Mediterranean journey. And how better to experience this destination than under sail aboard the incomparable Sea Cloud II, which combines the seafaring elegance of a bygone era with the highest modern standards of luxury? Begin the journey with a three-night luxury hotel stay on the French Riviera, followed by a relaxed four-night cruise from Nice to Rome, with port calls in Portovenere (for the Cinque Terre), Livorno (for a day trip to Lucca or Florence), and the Isle of Elba. The short distances along this route allow for two half-days under sail, one at the start of the voyage and one at the end, to maximize the special experience of cruising aboard this majestic windjammer. With verdant gardens and landscapes awash with blossoms, early May is the perfect time of year for this classic Mediterranean holiday. For those wishing to prolong their journey, a post-tour extension to Tuscany will be offered.

Please note: Princeton travelers will be joined by those from other like-minded institutions.
