As deputy vice president for volunteer engagement, Miller will lead University Advancement’s efforts to design and implement innovative strategies for volunteer engagement, with an emphasis on leadership development, diversity, developing training programs, and initiatives to celebrate and honor volunteers.

Miller, a 1980 graduate of Princeton, has led the Office of Alumni Affairs with distinction in her current role as deputy vice president for alumni affairs. Among other accomplishments, she and her team have grown Reunions from 15,000 attendees in 2002 to more than 26,000 in 2017; launched affinity conferences celebrating Black, Latino, Asian, Jewish and LGBTQ+ alumni; and introduced President Christopher L. Eisgruber and his strategic vision to alumni across the United States, Europe and Asia.

“I have been most energized by the opportunity to work with amazing alumni volunteers who distinguish our University with their talent and passion,” Miller said. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to turn a laser focus on expanding and strengthening one of Princeton’s greatest assets.”

Miller will continue to report to Vice President for University Advancement Kevin Heaney, and will continue in her role as deputy vice president for alumni affairs until a successor to her current position is appointed.

“Alumni volunteers are absolutely vital to our success at Princeton, and enhancing efforts to build, sustain, support and steward our volunteer corps is a main tenet of our University Advancement strategic planning process,” said Heaney.

“Margaret has the perfect blend of skills and experience to lead those efforts, a deep understanding of Princeton and its mission, and matchless familiarity with the University’s diverse and global community of alumni. I couldn’t be more pleased that she will take on this new challenge on behalf of Princeton.”
