Princeton alumni are invited back to campus for a three-day conference to celebrate Asian and Asian American alumni, scheduled for Oct. 14-16, 2027. The conference will be open to all alumni, regardless of background or identity. In-person and virtual focus groups to help inform conference programming began in April 2025 and will continue through October 2026.
Since 2006, Princeton University has sponsored and hosted 14 alumni conferences. These gatherings are designed to celebrate alumni communities and enable alumni of all backgrounds to engage with the University, faculty and one another. In 2014, the inaugural conference to honor Asian and Asian American alumni, titled “We Flourish,” drew more than 700 alumni and guests from 12 countries back to campus, strengthening ties and sparking new connections across generations.
“We are looking forward to celebrating our Asian and Asian American alumni community 12 years after the ‘We Flourish’ conference,” said Jennifer Caputo, deputy vice president for Alumni Engagement. “Since then, the University has established a certificate program in Asian American studies and dedicated the M.S. Chadha Center for Global India. These, among other programs and initiatives, reflect the enormous impact that our Asian and Asian American alumni have had on the University and our broader alumni community.”
The conference steering committee will be co-chaired by University Trustee Ann Chen ’89 and former University Trustees James Yeh ’87 and Rishi Jaitly ’04. Informed by extensive data gathered through surveys and a series of focus group discussions, the volunteer steering committee will build a dynamic and interactive conference featuring alumni and faculty speakers as well as many opportunities for roundtable discussions, networking and socializing.
Invitations to a series of focus groups were extended to all alumni with the goal of gathering ideas and feedback for conference programming. Approximately 250 alumni participated in six conversations held across the country — in-person and virtually — throughout the past year. Alumni gathered in Seattle, Boston, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles and online, and upcoming sessions are scheduled for New York City and Princeton, as well as virtually.
Advancement’s Alumni Engagement team and the conference steering committee will collaborate with the Asian American Alumni Association of Princeton (A4P) to build excitement and amplify the impact of the conference. A4P is one of nine affinity groups that are part of the Princeton alumni community.
Affinity groups are open to all alumni and create spaces for connection across generations and regions, offer opportunities for intellectual, social and professional engagement, and invite alumni to contribute their voices, talents and leadership in service of Princeton’s mission. The Association of Jewish Princeton Alumni (AJPA) and the Princeton University Muslim Alumni Association (PUMAA) are the two most recent affinity groups to be established.
