Anthony B. Evnin Lecture: ‘Janna Levin: Black Hole Blues’

Janna Levin, professor of physics and astronomy at Barnard College of Columbia University, will deliver the 2024 Anthony B. Evnin Lecture on black holes, creativity, the union of art and science and how far our understanding of the universe has come — and where it’s headed. Bringing originality, lucidity and even poetry to one of humanity’s oldest sciences, Levin is a gifted author, cosmologist and Guggenheim Fellow whose latest book, “Black Hole Survival Guide,” offers a glimpse into the wonders of the cosmos. Her research concerns the early universe, chaos and black holes and her earlier book “Black Hole Blues and Other Songs from Outer Space” provides a history of the Nobel-Prize winning pursuit to detect gravitational waves, otherwise known as the soundtrack of the universe.
