SOLD OUT: Wolves and Wildlife of Yellowstone

Professor Bridgett vonHoldt
Bridgett vonHoldt, Associate Professor, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

Professor vonHoldt, the leading scholar of North American wild canines, will be the study leader on this journey. Her research ranges from identifying the differences in genomic structure found between the domestic dog and gray wolf genomes to analyzing the social behavior of dogs and wolves. On this tour, Professor VonHoldt will discuss her current research including the North American Canine Ancestry Project and Yellowstone Wolf Pedigree and Population Genetic Analyses. To learn more about Professor vonHoldt’s research and her personal experience in Yellowstone, listen to her interview on the wildly popular Ologies podcast.

About the Journey

Amidst crisp air, bare trees, frosted earth, and brilliant thermal features of Yellowstone National Park, the wildlife viewing in winter is better than any other time of year. The elements of nature are in full sway, and its wild inhabitants—including close-knit packs of wolves—are hunting, mating, and surviving. Participants on this journey will travel in custom safari vehicles across magical landscapes that are the setting for steaming geysers, trees covered in ice crystals, and the movements of bison, elk, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, and yes, the illustrious gray wolves.

Enjoy Professor vonHodt’s lecture series detailing her own work with Yellowstone’s wolf recovery and current research on the genetic ancestry of North American canines.
