Alumni Day 2026: What you need to know to plan your day

by Advancement Communications
February 17, 2026

On Feb. 21, Alumni Day will kick off a 200-day celebration of the Princeton Alumni Association’s 200th anniversary.

The events begin with recognition of Kevin Gover ’78, under secretary for museums and culture at the Smithsonian, and Terence Tao *96, professor of mathematics and the James Carol Collins Chair in the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA). As recipients of the Woodrow Wilson Award and the James Madison Medal, respectively, they will receive the highest honors given to alumni.

The morning program will also honor the winners of the undergraduate Pyne Prize and the graduate Jacobus Fellowship. Other highlights include the annual Alumni Day luncheon in Jadwin Gymnasium, which will officially launch the bicentennial celebration, as well as the annual Service of Remembrance in the University Chapel and a closing reception in the new Princeton University Art Museum.

In addition to choosing your favorite orange-and-black attire, here’s everything you need to know to plan your day.

Schedule Highlights

9:15 a.m.: Awards in Alexander Hall: Gather in Richardson Auditorium for the presentation of the Woodrow Wilson Award, conferred on an undergraduate alum whose achievements exemplify “Princeton in the nation’s service,” and the James Madison Medal, the University’s top honor for Graduate School alumni. Kevin Gover and Terence Tao will present remarks, and we’ll hear from the honorees of this year’s Moses Taylor Pyne Prize and Porter Ogden Jacobus Fellowship. Alexander Hall, Richardson Auditorium

3 p.m.: Service of Remembrance: The University’s annual memorial service invites family and friends to remember and honor those Princetonians — alumni, students, faculty and staff — whose deaths were recorded in 2025. Dean of Religious Life and of the Chapel Rev. Dr. Theresa S. Thames will deliver the memorial address. Alumni unable to attend can watch a livestream of the service on the University’s Media Central webpage. Additionally, in memory and honor of beloved Princetonians, you can post a memorial message honoring a departed loved one on the online memorial board.
