Ethnography and Black Religions

This event brings together scholars from anthropology, religious studies, and African American studies who use ethnographic approaches to explore African diaspora religions in North America and the Caribbean. We will hear about their exciting and important research projects, consider what ethnography offers the field of Black religious studies, discuss methods and ethics in ethnographic study of Black religions, and explore future directions for research.
