Below are a few tools you can use to reduce your Google storage usage. Before getting started, it is recommended that you export any important data.
Reviewing Storage Amounts
Before starting the cleanup process to reduce your storage limits, check to see how much storage your account is currently using with Storage Overview.
Export Data
Google Takeout is a tool developed by Google that allows you to export and download a copy of various types of data currently stored in your Google account. You can store the data locally on your computer or upload the data to another third-party cloud storage service.
Note: Exports can take several minutes to days to process, depending on how much data you’re exporting.
Takeout allows you to select which service you would like to export data from, for example, Photos, Drive, Gmail, etc. It is recommended that you request separate exports by service.
To get started, follow these instructions provided by Google.
